For Boris Iskrev, the idea for Uvionix didn’t arrive as a lightning bolt. It evolved from years of grappling with the everyday challenges of warehouse management—stacks of SKUs, mismatched data, and processes that felt stuck in the past. At the same time, he’d spent a decade deep in the world of autonomous flying machines. The two streams eventually merged into a single thought: what if drones could fix one of the supply chain’s most persistent blind spots? That frustration led to a company built around a deceptively simple promise: to make warehouses honest about what they actually have in stock.

About Boris Iskrev

Boris Iskrev is the co-founder and CEO of Uvionix, where his two worlds collide: years spent battling messy warehouse operations and a decade developing autonomous drones. That unusual mix gives him a rare perspective - he knows the pain points of logistics firsthand and has the technical chops to fix them. Today, his mission is clear: close the “visibility gap” in supply chains and prove that drones can do more than fly - they can bring order to global commerce.

About Uvionix

Uvionix is on a mission to bring clarity to warehouses with fully autonomous drones. By blending robotics, AI, and real-time analytics, the startup addresses one of logistics' most overlooked problems: misaligned inventory data. Instead of clipboards and guesswork, Uvionix delivers complex numbers, letting companies finally trust what's on their shelves. By turning drones into tireless inventory partners, Uvionix is reimagining how warehouses—and the people who run them—keep the world moving.

A market hungry for change

Warehousing and logistics may not be glamorous, but they are enormous, accounting for over 10% of global GDP. For decades, the industry trudged along with clipboards and outdated systems. Then came COVID, which was a supply-chain shake-up that left companies scrambling for more innovative solutions. Boris says, “There is a tremendous switch to acceptance of new technology, search for new solutions, especially on this automation level of warehousing, but also visibility.”

For large enterprises, even slight improvements in accuracy can translate into millions saved. And that’s the kind of problem Uvionix is uniquely positioned to solve.

“What’s really good for us in this case is that larger and smaller companies, pretty much any size, now understand how important data is.”

The Uvionix edge

Sure, plenty of startups are tinkering with robots in warehouses - but Uvionix stakes its bet on full autonomy. “Our vision is quite different. We want to have this fully autonomous, and again, with flying small aircraft, this gives us a unique ability to reach anywhere in space,” Boris explains.

Their aircraft don’t even look like drones in the traditional sense: instead, think of a coaxial setup, a shrouded frame, and a cross between a helicopter and a UFO. Inside that unusual shell is a tightly woven mix of robotics, navigation, barcode scanning, AI, and cloud reporting - “several startups in one,” as Boris puts it.

“This should happen seamlessly, autonomously, so without human intervention. Because otherwise we’re just wasting valuable time for the people.”

Smarter, not replaced

Meanwhile, talk of ‘dark factories’ often raises concerns about humans being replaced by machines. However, Uvionix takes a different stance from the status quo. “What we provide is information that the warehouse worker can rely on and they can make the right decisions and the right judgments,” Boris says.

The effect ripples across departments: procurement teams can plan with confidence, finance can model with accuracy, and operations don’t grind to a halt because someone miscounted raw materials. At the core of this promise? AI. The drones can navigate cavernous warehouses without GPS, recognize pallets and barcodes, and process everything on board in real time.

“It’s quite challenging to run the AI, all the algorithms, into the flying device and still be able to do the work seamlessly. But it’s also what makes us much different and also what helps us to drive the system in this environment.”

Backing the big vision

Investors are paying attention. Earlier this year, Uvionix raised a seed round with Robin Capital, Underline Ventures, LAUNCHub, and PortFolion. The funds are fueling a 20-person team spread across hardware, software, avionics, and AI - all pushing toward pilot programs and a product launch planned for next year.

“The main deployment of the funds is on scaling the team. And preparing our pilots to start. Also, this funding we expect to bring us almost to the product release.”

The company’s roadmap is intentionally focused, prioritising warehousing first, where processes are standardised and the need is urgent. Beyond that, Boris sees opportunity in manufacturing plants, office buildings, and other environments where digital twins and flying machines could keep operations running smoothly.

And the partnership with Robin Capital was about more than just capital. “I felt like you could bring a lot to us, not just financially, but really in terms of connection, in terms of advice, in terms of strategic planning, which I loved.”

Quick-fire round

A tool you can’t live without:
“Well, very generic - my computer!”

A founder or startup you admire:
“I admire founders who are hands-on”

Recharge ritual:
“Recently, I rediscovered motorbiking, which I find is an interesting way just to refresh your mind.”

Best piece of advice received:
“You should never forget what your customers are looking for… otherwise you can very easily get lost in what you’re doing.”

Uvionix is hiring across drones, aviation, indoor navigation, software, and cloud. “We’re always looking for bright minds,” Boris says. With funding secured, pilots on the horizon, and a team revving toward product launch, the company is setting its sights high. Get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
